Types of Ownership

You can open the following types of accounts with Artisan Funds:

Individual or Joint Ownership — These are intended for your general needs. Individual accounts are owned by one person. Joint accounts can have two or more owners.

Uniform Gift or Uniform Transfer to a Minor (UGMA, UTMA) — Custodial accounts let you give money to a minor for any purpose. This gift is irrevocable, and the minor gains control of the account once he or she reaches the age of majority. Your application should include the minor's social security number.

Trust Accounts for: an Individual Trust, Marital Trust or Trust for an Established Employee Benefit or Profit-Sharing Plan. The trust or plan must be established before you can open an account. Please include the date of the trust or plan on the application.

Business or Organization — This type of account is for a corporation, association, partnership or similar institution. Along with your application, please enclose a certified corporate resolution that indicates which officers are authorized to act upon the account.

Retirement Accounts — retirement account enables you to defer taxes on investment income and capital gains. Your contributions may be tax-deductible. For more current/detailed IRA information please see Frequently Asked Questions for IRA's.

Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESAs) — ESAs provide a tax-favored vehicle through which educational expenses can be funded on behalf of the individual for whom the account is established.

You must contact the Funds prior to opening an omnibus account.
